Dene McAllan crashes out of Anzac Day 50 Lap Classic.

What started out as a great night for the Polar Ice/McAllan Motorsport Team ended in disaster with Dene & the car going for a wild ride in turn two of the feature race at Parramatta Raceway last Saturday night in the Anzac Day 50 Lap Classic.

Forty four cars assembled for the nights racing with stars from as far as New Zealand & the USA. The programme of racing was as follows, two rounds of heats 14 cars per heat each & with only 8 laps. The International Knockout where after a draw for positions, eight cars will take to the track for six laps, at the end the last two cars are disqualified, the remaining six cars will regrid in there finishing positions to race over 4 laps with the last two finishing cars again being excluded, finally with only four cars remaining two laps of racing will decide the victor who will take the $1000 cash, & then the big one, the Anzac Day 50 Lap Classic.

Dene started out of position nine in his first heat finishing six, his last remaining heat starting out of position four where he lead home everyone with a great drive to finish first. After all the points were tallied after the heats, Dene found himself being the second highest point scorer which then opened the entry to race in the International Knockout. Starting of the front row in the first challenge he raced away for a fine win, the second starting of position 1 finishing 4th, and the final challenge he started position 4 finishing 3rd.

Being one of the highest points scorers of the night, Dene started position fourteen for the "A" Main with all the other top guns. As the team was waiting on the dummy grid ready to go out for the "A" main, they were forced to change the cars setup as a minor technical issue was picked up by one of the race officials. The change to the race car made it very hard to drive as it was very tight to start of with but as the race progressed the race cars pace picked up. He reached as high as sixth place from fourteenth & on approx lap thirty he banged the cushion a little to hard to often to send the car into numerous wild flips. Dene walked away a little sore & disappointed as this amazingly was the teams first crash DNF of the season in a feature race.

The Polar Ice/McAllan Motorsports next race meeting will be on Saturday the 9th of May at Brisbane's International Speedway for another 50 Lap Classic & then there final Australian season appearance at the Victorian Title on 23rd of May at Bairnsdale Speedway.
